Here Be DragonsChildren become dragonologists at Kew, tasked with finding the six dragons located around the gardens. The special Here Be Dragons trail has been created by Kew Palace to mark the re-opening of the Great Pagoda at Kew where you can see the 80 golden dragons decorating the facade of the ten-storey landmark. The adventure begins at the Welcome Centre next to Kew Palace where there's an exhibition and dragon puppet making activities. Then it's time to find the fearsome dragons; five have been designed by children who won a Blue Peter competition while a sixth has been designed by a local community group. Each has its own personality and special power. Can you spot the special dragon on the pagoda?

 

About Kew Palace

Built in 1631 for merchant Samuel Fortrey, and later acquired by George II as an annexe to Kew House, Kew Palace served as a family country retreat for George III and his extensive family. Nestled among the greenery of the (now) Kew Gardens and perched on the river, the King loved the palace so much he was given the nickname "Farmer George" as he spent so much time away from the centre of London, out "in the country" at Kew.
