National Picnic WeekIt's National Picnic Week from the 15th to 24th of June, which (the eagle eyed amongst you may have spotted) is actually ten days and covers two weekends. Plenty of time, then, to enjoy al fresco food in one of London's beautiful parks. Which London park will take the top spot from last year's winner, Hyde Park? In London, the nominees are Highgate Wood, Victoria Park, Hampstead Heath, Richmond Park, and St James' Park. Your favourite picnic spot not on the list? Not to worry. Nominate your preferred place now for next year's competition. The idea is to inspire us to explore scenic locations and hidden gems with family and friends - and for more inspiring ideas see our feature on London's Top Picnic Spots.

About Hyde Park

Technically two different parks, Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are in practical terms one huge, merging expanse. The 'split' dates back to 1728 when Queen Caroline, wife of George II, took almost 300 acres from Hyde Park to form Kensington Gardens. The 350 acres that remained has become one of London's best-loved parks. More about Hyde Park
