Superbugs: The Fight For Our LivesWe don't mean to scare you but superbugs kill close to 700,000 people a year globally. In free exhibition Superbugs: The Fight For Our Lives the Science Museum reveals humanity's response to the threat of antibiotic resistance at the microscopic, human and global levels. You'll see twelve real bacteria colonies, including one of the earliest superbugs, as well as Penicillium mould recently grown from original samples used by Alexander Fleming in the discovery of penicillin. A display of 14,000 pills illustrates the two-year treatment needed to combat superbug TB while Komodo dragon blood, Icelandic fjords and Brazilian leafcutter ants could provide alternative solutions to the superbug problem.
